Founder Newsletter #1: House Entrance or Art Gallery?

Greetings from the entire Housenama team. Hope you are as excited as all of us about the ODI Cricket World Cup beginning tomorrow.

For those who might be reading this letter for the first time, welcome to the Housenama tribe. I am really glad that you are a part of our journey!

This is our monthly newsletter where I share the behind-the-scenes workings at Housenama i.e. how are we building it, who are the people building it, what inspires us, different kinds of mistakes we make, our learnings, and a lot more. Am hopeful that this will be worth your time and something you would look forward to reading each month.

Earlier this year, a customer requested us to make a nameplate based on The Great Wave off Kanagawa - one of the most famous works of art in the world - that was created in 1831 by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai.

We took up the challenge. Since the original creation was in the form of a woodblock print, we chose to turn it into a wooden nameplate (pic below).

The customer was super-happy with the output. And we thought - "Wow, that was such a great idea - turning the boring space outside your house door into an art gallery." The art-inspired nameplate would be a head-turner and was bound to spark conversations with friends who visited the house.

And now, Housenama, has got a whole collection of nameplates inspired by the world's most famous artworks and paintings. The nameplates are now live on our website in a collection called Masterpieces.

Each nameplate captures the essence of the original masterpiece - whether it's the Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa or Café Terrace at Night by Vincent van Gogh (a personal favourite) or The Card Players by Paul Cézanne or Raja Ravi Varma's Stolen Interview. I invite you to take a look.
